What are the Security Implications of Delegating Administration in Active Directory?

Hi Guys,

We've been asked to do an internal risk assessment of our Active Directory, as management wants to get a reasonable idea as to the security of our AD.

While we've been giving it much thought as to what to cover, the thought of security implications of delegating administrative authority in our Active Directory came to the table.

Basically, we have bee delegating access for many years in our Active Directory, and while we've tried to keep it manageable by using security group memberships, the fact is that we've had quite some churn over the years, and so we're not sure as to who is delegated what acccess in different parts of our Active Directory.

I suppose it boils down to figuring out what the security implications of delegating administration in Active Directory are. If any of you have given this any thought, I would appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
John
